Amid growing youth job market disparities, an event is being held to provide young people with practical project experience.
The Notion user community, Shoocream Village, announced that it will host "Play with Notion" on Saturday, October 18th, at the multipurpose hall on the 6th floor of the Seolleung D-Camp in Gangnam, Seoul. The event is designed to encourage approximately 100 young participants to form teams, complete step-by-step missions, and record their progress with a certificate.
According to Statistics Korea, the youth unemployment rate has recently reached double the national average. Young people say they "don't even have the opportunity to build a career," and companies complain that they "lack talent that can deliver immediate results."
The so-called employment paradox exists: countless job seekers and countless jobs, yet they are often disconnected. This event, conceived with this awareness in mind, aims to provide young people with not just education, but "a project they can say they experienced firsthand."
The event takes place in a virtual world called "Notionland." Participants form teams and complete missions like finding allies, collecting coins, and utilizing NPCs, before finally attempting the final escape mission. The process is designed to be engaging, like a game, but the end result is a project record and certificate.
The essence of this event isn't simply learning Notion's features. While many young people anticipate the potential for employment or career transitions through Notion, this event goes beyond those expectations and offers hands-on experience of how Notion can be used to practically benefit their lives and work.
This event is officially sponsored by global productivity tool company Notion, Maetel, and 24.5 Corp. The event itself carries added weight as companies dedicated to supporting youth entrepreneurship and career growth come together.
This event stands out in that it offers opportunities to demonstrate real-world problem-solving skills and collaborative capabilities, rather than relying solely on qualifications like TOEIC scores and certifications. Just as Germany and Switzerland have closely connected young people with industry through vocational training, this "Assent Ocean Survival" is designed as a platform for young people to demonstrate "skills over specifications" through game-based practice.
The organizer, Shoocream Village, is Korea's leading Notion community, run by Notion Global Ambassador Noshooni. Currently, around 2,500 members are active, and with the motto "Growing Together Through Fun Sharing," the community creates diverse projects, including template creation, lectures, and community learning activities.
This year's "Asnocean Survival" is also the first official offline event, extending beyond the online stage and designed to expand community experiences into social projects. Furthermore, it is significant in that it marks the beginning of a journey for young people seeking to prove their skills through side projects in a world that demands experience and professionalism.
This event was planned and organized by PM Oh Su-in, APM Kim Ga-eun and Jo Hye-won, and members Yoon Jae-hyun, Lee Seung-hye, Jang Su-jeong, Jang Jae-eun, and Jeon Yoon-ha. The organizers emphasized, "While the event itself is meaningful, the greater value lies in the growth and career development that young people gain through the process of creating it."
Participants will not only learn Notion features but also gain diverse experiences, including collaboration, networking, ranking competitions, and merchandise. The "Super Internship Opportunity" offered by 24.5 and Metel is particularly noteworthy for its tangible outcomes that go beyond mere event participation and can lead to career advancement.
Event officials said, “This survival event offers both fun game elements and practical opportunities that can help with your career,” adding, “We hope this will be a stage where participants can gain both enjoyment and growth.”
